Missouri Sports

It is crazy how Missouri is so overlooked as a sporting town. In baseball and hockey, St. Louis is easily top ten. For example, I saw a article from a guy at ESPN saying Missouri was the number three in views of the NHL All Star game. Something like this is crazy given the population here and location. No one ever really thinks of anywhere except up north at being really good at hockey. There is something different about St. Louis fans though. Although there has been bad years for the teams here, attendance has stayed consistent and fans love their teams. Another big thing to look back on is the 100th PGA Championship held at Bellerive Country Club last year. I attended and the whole experience was crazy. To start, of course no parking at a country club so there was a shuttle system to get to the course. We had to uber to Westminster, hop on a greyhound to a church across the street from the club, and then exit and follow the crowds of people headed in. That was just the beginning of it though. Crowds were crazy and the support for some of the top guys on tour was unreal. For example, there was literally mobs of people following around top golfers such as Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth. The experience was one of a lifetime and it was not only the crowd saying that it was also some of the golfers. It’s crazy to think but St. Louis is a really good and diverse sporting town. Maybe we lost a team, but does it really matter with the success the city has had with other sports.
